MY BIOGRAPHY

Hello everyone! My name is O'Cyrus and I am an author and a poet. The genre I specifically focus on are Children's Books (ages 4-8), Graphic Novels (ages 12 & up), and Poetry (ages 12 & up).  My Children's Books range from action adventure to fantasy stories. I have a series I am working on as well as a variety of other stories I feel I tell/write in a unique way that will be enjoyable for children and adults reading to their children.

My approach to writing a Graphic Novel is written in a way as if the reader is watching a film but reading the subtitles as the movie is being played. For poetry, I focus more on Mental Health issues as well as self-actualization to help people discover their self-worth and be inspired to unlock their true potential and go out there to add their gift to the world.

Most of the time I will work on my Children's Books or Graphic Novels in the morning and my Poetry in the evening.

When it comes to creative writing and creative imagery, not being afraid of being different, pushing the envelope,  and not being afraid of being labeled "weird/strange" is a component I am very big on. Writers such as Hideo Kojima and Hajime Isayama create bold stories with unique worlds not seen from other writers. They are hands on with their stories as well as the creation of the characters and the world as whole. I pull inspiration from these two story tellers (especially with my Graphic Novels) because they aren't afraid to tell a story as a visionary with the belief that no matter what, someone will accept them.

Each story I write, I make sure I sketch every aspect of the world the characters come from and work closely with each illustrator I partner with to ensure the world I imagined as I imagined it comes to life. But that's the writer side of me; here's a little background about who I am as a person. I am a husband and father of three boys currently serving in the United States military. Actively working towards being a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC).(CLICK ON THE MILITARY TAB TO LEARN A BIT ABOUT ME IN UNIFORM).

My family means everything to me. My wife, Melissa, has been instrumental in helping me achieve my goals as an author. (CLICK ON THE FAMILY TAB TO DIVE INTO MY FAMILY LIFE).

Currently, I have one book published titled, "SACRED" (released October 31, 2022) and two more titles set to release in 2023. These titles include, GOODBYE JOHN set to release in April 3, 2022 and GRAVESITE OF MAHAGONY set to release on October 1, 2023.

 SACRED is a collection of poetry based on my experiences with many people who I have encountered via Mental Health throughout my time in the military. I also speak heavily on my own experiences of trauma, love, and happiness. Those who've read SACRED felt that I was speaking on behalf of people throughout the story. That is what I was hoping for. 

Aside from GOODBYE JOHN and GRAVESITE OF MAHAGONY, I have books I plan on publishing throughout 2023 and 2024

With how busy my days are from marriage, parenting, Military, and life in general, finding time to write/work on books generally occurs between 3am-7am most days out of the week to include weekends and holidays. For those curious, I tend to sleep around 10pm-11pm giving me a good 4-5 hours of daily sleep with minimal naps during convenient times of the day.

I've learned that the most important thing in life for me is time, and it is imperative to give time to yourself as well as time to those you love. Don't confuse love with greed. Be selective in who you give your time to and do your best to love life. Find you your purpose and your gift will make room for you.

I hope to gain a loyal following of supporters and I will continue to do my best to provide quality books for readers.
