Tyler Perry once said to, "build your own table," and I took that to heart. All things start from somewhere and for me I spent a couple of years thinking and strategizing on whether or not traditional publishing was for me. I spent that same time thinking whether or not self-publishing was for me. Though I don't close doors if opportunities are presented, but I was quite frankly tired of feeling like I needed to wait. I knew I had the grit and determination to learn the business of books and the industry as a whole. 

The idea for OCYRUS INK PUBLISHING kept coming into my imagination, so I sought out an attorney and after speaking with that attorney I was provided with information about copyright, trademarks, and LLCs. I followed my gut instinct and it led me to working with my sister (Marie Laure, professional artist) on designing a logo for myself that I would use for my books that I independently publish via print-on-demand book distributors. All of my work is legally copyrighted through the United States Government Copyright office, and my self-owned book publishing company, OCYRUS INK PUBLISHING has been trademarked via the USPTO. 

This doesn't mean I will not allow myself to branch out and work with other book companies. If or when the opportunity presents itself for me to work with other book companies then I'd be more than willing to see how things go.

Until then . . . I will keep pushing and working towards shaping my own future and controlling my destiny.
